If you missed the Catch and Release opening at Bennett Springs, you missed a great weekend of camaraderie, good fishing and good food. This is just a taste of what you missed.

It’s November in Missouri. The leaves are falling as well as the temperature. The sun is shining and the water is calling. Time had come for the 20th Annual Ozark Fly Fishers Bennett Spring C&R showdown, and what a showdown it was.
Fishing was awesome, most were on the small side but they were numerous. Reports of a couple of multi‑pounders were made; one even had its picture taken.
We had a few tryouts for this year’s synchronized fish/swim team. Mike S. scored a 10; Vicki reported after hearing the splash, all she was able to see was an arm in the air, everything else, including the rod was under water. Earl & Jerry K. received honorable mentions.
The weather this year was mild, and windy, even gusting at times, and still we fished. It was just too good not to persevere. Saturday evening’s happy hour and buffet dinner was hot and plentiful and provided a great time to catch up on the stories of the weekend.
A big thanks go out to Russ Hill for once again orchestrating a super event, thanks Russ.
